“ This was my first time having sushi in Santa Fe and Kohnami is a solid casual dining restaurant for your sushi needs. Their menu is very expansive and I am curious about their hibachi items and bento boxes, but I stuck with sushi rolls and a few appetizers during this visit. I like that they have something for everyone here - whether you like your fish raw or cooked, as well as non-fish options. I stuck with a basic sake bomb for my beverage, but that's how I like them once in a while, and they do have plenty of other choices for those who indulge in alcohol. The green chile tempura was perfectly fried, but the ponzu sauce was quite plain and I preferred dipping my chile in soy sauce instead. The peppered tuna was also served with the same bland ponzu, but the tuna itself was nicely seared and tasty. For rolls, the rainbow, spicy tuna and Kohnami were all very good. My favorite was the Kohnami because of the delicious eel and tobiko it was topped with. ”
“ We were on a family vacation in Santa Fe, and we were craving sushi and ramen! We found this little place and we were so happy we picked this restaurant! The food was amazing and hit the spot! The service was nice as well. We had a very pleasant and welcoming experience! The restaurant was clean as well! ”
“ This place was busy with great energy when we visited for the first time. A jazz trio was setting up to play. Jazz, in a Japanese restaurant? They ended up being a great addition to the evening and created a very relaxed and fun atmosphere. Music was just the right volume where you could still have a conversation. The food was better than we expected, after reading some of the reviews here. We ordered several different appetizers and all of them were good. The only one I was not a fan of was the shrimp shoe my, which I think might have been frozen. Our favorites for the night were the spicy tuna salad, and tai carpaccio dish. We didn't have any rolls, but the ones we saw being served from the bar looked amazing. We will definitely return when we're in Santa Fe again and try their rolls. ”
“ This place is totally underrated. Coming from CA I'm biased and this place was phenomenal for being in the middle of the desert. My husband came here probably 15yrs ago and loved it. It's still great. Lunch specials were perfectly presented and filling. Salmon sushi and teriyaki was delicious. The best part it doesn't break the bank. ”
“ I've been here 3 times since they opened up again, and it gets better every time. Service is attentive and friendly. Sushi rolls are large in size and the fish and veggies are fresh. We had 4 rolls and edamame all under $60! The bonsai roll is one of our favorites. On a Saturday night we parked about 2 blocks away but it was a beautiful evening for a summer walk. A must try for sushi in Santa Fe! ”
“ First time here and we had the pleasure of being served by Umi, it was probably the best service we have received in many years. The food was nithing short of amazingness, the tempura appetizer was great, the bento boxes gave great variety, and the Santa fe roll was great. The use of unique fresh ingredients really showed their care to crafting great food. The restaurant itself was clean and we'll maintained but also under a bit of construction but didn't affect the experience at all. Great place!! ”
